A Little Nutty - Scientology: Busted; Religion: Plausible

Chances are you have seen people writing off all religions, or better yet, anyone who believes in any religion based on the faulty premise that all religions are created equal.

It's true, all religions require a certain leap of faith. It's perfectly reasonable to consider all of religious people duped. It's just not reasonable to pretend that any religious person, of any creed, is taking an equal leap of faith as someone else of a different faith. At their core most religions are a hypothesis at the origin of our existence and what happens after we die. Like any hypothesis of how anything works they aren't necessarily all of equal merit.

I'll break down three religions I know a little about.

The Court of Public Opinion

Before you scold the "Court of Public Opinion" stop to consider that the public isn't bound by the same burden of proof that the normal court system has to abide by, nor should we be.

Last Comment: Scott - 02/20/2008 @ 08:06:45 PM - Also, here's food for thought. "...public opinion wins wars." -- Dwight D. Eisenhower, A Bridge Too Far, p. 67, Cornelius Ryan.

Look, There's Some Middle Ground Here, People

An article on why everything doesn't have to be so black and white. Both sides of an issue argue the slippery slope "If we budge and inch, the other side will take a mile" argument and nothing ever happens. At what point did society completely lose it's ability to compromise on anything?

Dr. Jeremy...Breaking up is hard to do.
