Chiefs 9 @ Buccaneers 31
JonWell, by my count this is the 269th official NFL game of this season, which is 269 more than I thought would be played seven months ago. Even as week 1 arrived, I wasn't sure the season would be finished, much less played in full. But here it is, the culmination of the 2020 NFL season played amid a pandemic. I'll stop short of offering congratulations, as I'm not sure this particular achievement demonstrates virtue or vice. Was it good planning or dumb luck? Determination or stubbornness? I honestly don't know what to make of how everything transpired or to what degree player and public safety drove decision making. I really just don't know.
Oh, the game? I don't know. Watching the Buccaneers in the NFC title game, I briefly thought that I would pick them no matter who they played next. They have those guys that can get to the quarterback, and that makes so much difference.
Then again, the Chiefs. I mean, they are the Chiefs. Apparently Patrick Mahomes is like the best ever QB talent in the kind of way that makes people pronounce him so after only three years of starting. I'm no QB talent evaluator, so I won't say they're wrong, but I still feel weird about how quickly everyone seems to have settled on this. I mean, have they even seen me play Tecmo Super Bowl with QB Eagles?
Tom Brady is the GOAT, though. At least that's what we're told. Repeatedly. Apparently he is the GOAT in a different way than Mahomes is, though. Many things and people can be GOATs, even if they play the same position in the same sport at the same time. You might think this is impossible, but only if you understand superlatives, logic, and the english language. However, Tom Brady once posed for magazine photos with an actual baby goat, so we know his GOATness is for real. It's what scientists call proof.
I guess I'll pick the Chiefs, mainly because Brady will probably throw more interceptions and probably one will get returned for a touchdown.
