Packers 27 @ Seahawks 17 |
JeremyThough they should win this one, things could get rough for the Packers over their next few games.
MattWho cares? | |
JonI think I like Mike Holmgren.
SarahThe Seahawks have like no one left. However, I wouldn't put it past them to sneak by the Pack, who have lost their last 3. Shape up or Ship out! |
Patriots 10 @ Chargers 30 |
JeremyThe great Futile-Off of 2008
MattBoth these teams suck.
JonI think this game takes the prize this week. This is the game where virtually no outcome or margin of victory for either side will really surprise me.
SarahI think both of these teams have been mediocre this year (even with the good records). We all know why the Patriots are subpar, but the Chargers? Were they just Shawne Merriman's team? |
Giants 14 @ Browns 35 |
JeremyIt must really suck to be a Browns fan. All those pieces in place. Coming off of a season that was clear you were building something. Now suddenly their offense can't get a first down to save their life, and they're wondering if their exciting QB of the future wasn't just a complete waste of time. Yeah, that must really suck.
MattFree Brady Quinn? | |
JonThe Eli Manning Bandwagon has to be setting the all time bandwagon records right about now, right? I'm guessing the summer activity of all these former Eli Manning haters is taking repeated trips to Yankee stadium and booing Alex Rodriguez every time he makes an out and convincing themselves they really like him everytime he gets a hit.
SarahGiants are out to prove something. Maybe that they're reigning Super Bowl Champs? |

I'm torn because it's such a corner stone of nutcan tradition, but would anyone be terribly upset, or even notice, if I didn't bother recreating these in the next nutcan revision. (That is to say I'd still show the comments that are already made. Although, if I do that most of the work is done, since actually prompting for the text is the "easy" part. Hmm.) |

I can't believe what's going on. 1) First Sarah calls Peyton Manning "Payton"**** and now she uses the incorrect version of their/they're/there And I'm sorry to put such a spotlight on a mistake that everyone makes, but it just seems so out of character. Is someone hacking her account? Plus, I'm pretty sure Sarah would shame any of the rest of us if we ever made such errors. (I love you Sarah, don't hate me.) 2) What's all this talk about not doing game comments? I don't care if no one reads them. We're doing them. I'll grant you that some of the games are difficult to write about every now and then, but if you can't think of 4 semi-original thoughts per week that are vaguely football related, then maybe we should all get outside more or get a new hobby, because our brains should be capable of such an exercise. And as for their usefulness and whether people read them or not, I say this: If they don't read them, it's their loss. There's good information in there. Jeremy already predicted Rodgers' first three interceptions, and I was on the right track when I said the Chargers were gonna intercept Favre for three touchdowns, and those examples are just off the top of my head. (As for lateness of picks and comments, I can't speak for the rest of you, but I do picks and comments on Friday/Saturday. That's just my thing. Sometimes Thursday if I feel like it and sometimes in the middle of the night before the games if I was out of town and/or sick like I've been the last two days. I'm not against people getting them done days in advance but I don't think it's necessary since it's not something people need to ruminate on -- the comments serve roughly the same purpose on Tuesday as they do just before kickoff. Though I guess they could spark discussions, but that has it's pros and cons too, since it always devolves into a Favre-based feud anyway. I guess, in general, I think we should aim to have them in at least 24 hours before gametime, just for good measure.) ****EDIT (10/13/2008): Sarah did not make the "Payton" mistake. Jon screwed this fact up and begs for forgiveness from Sarah for maligning her character. |

I knew that was out of character for you! Sometimes I do that though, I read someone's comment and think someone else said it. But usually it happens with alex and PackOne. I must have just seen the packer logo and that was it. You should change yours to a Jets logo. Appropriate changes to the original comment have been made. THe Vikings did not deserve to win and got real lucky. There was a contraversial fumble call earlier on that went the Vikings way as well. Childress really sucks. How about doing something creative with the offense, they basically only had one big offensive play all game. Extremly lucky to be 3-3. |

"Green Bay’s offense was hardly anything to brag about, but Rodgers was efficient and moved the team in pivotal third- and fourth-quarter drives in which it took control, scoring 17 straight points in the win over the Seattle Seahawks. It was a must-win for the Packers, and Rodgers came through when necessary. His 14 total touchdowns (11 passing and three rushing) in six games are beyond everyone’s expectations this season." "Javon Walker (five catches for 59 yards this season) is looking like one of the worst free agent signings in history. No one ever seems to be actively commenting when I come on the can. Nice Jets logo, tell your man they would be even nicer if they weren't fuzzy. |

| I see. Yea, I demand a better logo to show off my new loyalty! (Maybe an old school Titans logo would work?) | ||

I second the demand for a better logo suggestion and motion for current commenting by nutcan elite to continue. All in favor? |

I appreciate many teams, but never in my adult life have I abandoned a team due to the loss/trade of a key player. |

Emmit Smith and Ken Griffey Jr. I was 14 or 15 when Jr. hurt himself and started playing like a mortal, and I think Emmit hurt that quad around 96 or 97. That was the time- you are correct. For the record, I could not claim to be an adult until sometime around 25 years of age. "That's when I moved out of mom's house" |

| Nice work on the logos Jeremy. You could have left the Vikes one to save some time. No one really cares about that icon. | ||

| I guess you would have to have a 57-30 picks record to take the Browns. Or be a first week picker to take the Rams. | ||

Lions 10 @ Vikings 12
Jeremy
The Vikings always find a way to play down to their opponents ability. A loss here is practically written in stone. Last week was a pathetic performance. Though, I believe that was the first time a receiver had 100 yards receiving in the Childress era.Matt
The Vikings are heavy favorites here, which means they're going to lose. Fire Brad Childress.Jon
Expect Minnesota fans to be holding their breath for about three hours on Sunday.Sarah
What a weird MNF game it was between the Saints and the Vikings. The Lions are pretty terrible, so I will have to pick the Vikings.
