Bears 3 @ Packers 37 |
SarahI really don't think the Packers will win, but just so I don't look stupid when they win on some fluke play, I'll pick them. Remember when the Packers could've drafted Grossman? At this point, we'd probably be better off.
JeremyI'll be rooting for the Bears, but in the end who knows which team winning will help the Vikings more.
JonIf Orton is really healthy, Green Bay will have trouble stopping Chicago's offense. |
Vikings 13 @ Buccaneers 19 |
SarahThe Vikings played a better game last week than the Packers, but the fact that the Packers should've won that game in the end speaks volume. Is Garcia still the QB for the Bucs? I don't even know.
JeremyThe Vikings aren't going to get too far with their "We can score 40, if that's what it takes to keep the game close, but we'll try not to get too far ahead either" mentality. Not every team sucks so bad that they can get 24 points off turnovers or special teams and still lose the game.
JonTampa Bay is such an unusual team. I don't get Gruden's thinking on what quarterback plays when. And are they still doing that thing where they throw a million times a game? I feel like that could be a bad thing for Minnesota. Then again, the Vikings have the ability to make some big plays on defense that way. |
Cowboys 14 @ Commanders 10 |
SarahSame comment as last week.
JeremyYou'd swear Jesus announced his returning. They better win now.
JonI think Dallas will win big. |
Browns 29 @ Bills 27 |
SarahSame comment as last week.
MattI forgot to get my comments in for the other games this week, but I guess I still have time to write something for this game. Of course, I don't really have anything to say about this game, so I'll just end with Cleveland 24 - Buffalo 22.
JeremyWho was drunk at the MNF game draft this year?
JonNeither team has anything going lately. Which is always what you want the nation to see. These teams should just take a "pass" on the Monday night thing and play quietly on Sunday. Could happen right? |

Hold on a just a sec, the Packer's would be better off with Grossman? The only way that's true is if they then wouldn't have had any decent QBs and would've taken Brett back. I'll take Rodgers over Grossman any day. |

NFL Reviews calls in Packers-Vikings game. Jeremy may have won this battle, but the war continues. It turns out that Adrien Pederson should have been flagged for 60 yards worth of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for taking his helmet off on the field; that definitely could have had a big impact on the game (of course, if he gets flagged one time, he probably doesn't do it the next 3 times). So I'll still stand by my claim that the reffing favored the vikings in this game. |

Jeremy Wrote - Yesterday @ 06:15:35 PM OMG. What's the difference? It's a lesser penalty than grounding with the exact same ramifications in this instance. It might even be the right thing to say since that's WHY they were ruling grounding. So he "correctly" called intentional grounding, when that was not even the call. I did not see this in week 10, because I tend not to check the previous week from about Wednesday on. How do you respond to the allegations about Pederson removing his helmet on the field and showing everyone the giant condom he had on his head, at least 4 time? |

http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80c6ff31 Well, it's clear what happened with the camera right there in semi-slow motion, but I could see how the refs might have thought his helmet just came off on that last run (or technically, when a teammate knocked him over.) Edit: I originally linked to the wrong video. Moment in question is at about the 4 minute mark. |

Just for the record, I was strongly considering picking the Vikings over the Bucs, but the Bucs have found very strange ways to win games this year. They seem to just find ways to win games they have no business winning. It's hard to pick against a team like that. Who knew that the vikings running as actually Adrian Peterson, not Adrien Pederson? |

I know a number of teams could say this, but with one different play in each of the last 2 games the Packers could be 6-3, which is the record of the current 4th ranked team. |

Well, she was never super-excited about the post Favre Packers, so I don't know if "fair-weather" is the best term. As for the loyalty to one player vs loyalty to a team issue, if you think about it loyalty to one/a few players is much more sane. Who are you rooting for if not the individual players? Rooting for a certain player, then letting that good will spill over into a couple of his teammates you "get to know" and letting that maintain your loyalty is much saner than rooting for a team for loyalty's sake. You just really like the jerseys? If the Packers team jet went down you wouldn't even be a little less enthused to root for the group of guys you don't know who replace them? (Even granting you a new team as good as the old one.) If the Packers and Vikings swapped rosters you wouldn't be the tiniest bit torn who to root for, or at the very least think "what's the point" of rooting period? At the very least I don't think that player-loyalty should be as frowned upon as it is, especially in this case where it's as much about voicing your displeasure with a move the team made as anything else. Players, coaches, owners, jerseys, logos, stadiums, etc change all the time, but if your fan-dom wains for a minute, or you voice displeasure over a decision, you're a "fair-weather" fan? I don't think that's what being a fan is about, in fact, in my mind, there's a decent chance you're being a bad fan. |

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that, when all other things are equal, I always choose what team I am going to root for based on the ties that team has to Wisconsin, or a Wisconsin team. I became a fan of the Jets for sure when Favre joined the Jets. But I can honestly say that regardless of scenarios, I would never stop rooting for the Packers, Brewers, or Badgers. Maybe I would start following a team a bit closer in the event of a bunch of former Packers or Brewers became part of that team, but team loyalty is a big thing to me. Heck, I cannot bring myself to hate the Vikings quite as much because they have Longwell and Sharper and Childress and Darrell Bevell, all players who have ties to Wisconsin. Honestly, I actually wanted to see Favre move on. Or I should say I was content with him moving on. We Are....Marshall! |

That's really far less rational than anything else though. I'm not saying it's wrong, or I don't feel the same way about the Twins and Vikings, I'm just saying that there's no inherent right way or wrong way. We've just been conditioned to believe that any wavering flap of anything less than blind 110% loyalty is sacrilege and means we aren't "real fans". If someone became a Viking fan in the first place because they were a Randy Moss fan than I shouldn't get to think less of them when they become a Raiders/Patriots fan, and it doesn't mean their support meant any less to the Vikings while he was on the team. |

The whole fan thing is over-glorified anyway. But, I think you can be a fan of a team and a fan of certain players at the same time. And I would also say rooting for a team is a little different than being a fan of team. Am I rooting for the Jets because of Favre (and because letting Thomas Jones go was a horrible personnel move for the Bears) this year? Sure, but I don't consider myself a Jets fan. Will I always hope the Packers win, no matter who they are playing or who's on the team or what the latest boneheaded decision of management is? Yes. Is it rational? Don't know, dont' care. Is anything about sports rational? |

You know who I've been impressed with? Jordy Nelson. I think he's quietly having a great rookie year. |

He hasn't been flashy, but there have been several times when I have noticed him coming up with big catches in certain situations. It's good to hear Sarah saying good things about the Packers again. |

2nd tie in NutCan history. Step forward if you knew that NFL regular season games could end in a tie? Not so fast Mr. McNabb. |

speaking of ties, how many teams went 12-2-1? Excellent! |

A game I'm looking forward to. The Jets have gotten their stuff together and won't be embarrassed again. Why is Brett a Jet? If someone could let me know, that'd be great.Jeremy
Save some room for B-Dubs. The Lindgren's and Pehler's are steppin' out!Jon
I've seen the NY Jets play a bit this year and they haven't really impressed me. I mean, granted, they've put up huge numbers on offense some days, but I'm not sure they're able to do that against good defenses. Also, their own defense isn't that great.
