Lions 10 @ Vikings 42
Matt: Playing A-Pete this soon after his injury seems stupid to me.Jeremy: Adrian should be back for this one. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm not a doctor, and they say he'll be fine, but I worry something worse might happen.
Sarah: One team is going up up up and one team is falling fast. Both are going nowhere fast, dontcha think? In the end only one team wins the Super Bowl, so at some point do you just start working towards a better draft pick? NEVER!
Jon: I think this will be a fun game. Like last time they played. It was entertaining. I watched it in a bar. Because I couldn't get it at home. We actually couldn't even watch it in either of our top two choices of sports bars.
Bengals 10 @ Steelers 24
Matt: Hines Ward for MVP!!!! Steelers 42 - Bengals 26.Jeremy: Think we might see 6 points in this one?
Sarah: What a rough game Monday night. The Bengals have a high power offense, but the Steeler's D is tough. I think Big Ben will make a comeback and get a win.
Jon: I think this is a tough week for picks. I mean, not this game necessarily, but I wouldn't be surpried if Cincinnati did win. But I think other games could be surprising.
Patriots 27 @ Ravens 24
Matt: Belichick sucks.Jeremy: Everyone else is all excited because the "blueprint" on how to beat the Pats is out there. The way I see it all the Eagles game did is solidify everything they've been talking about. "Humble pie" stops meaning anything if you win every game by 50. Anyone who thought they ran up the score before be warned, almost losing will ratchet up their "go for the jugular early" attitude 10 fold.
Sarah: Let's see if the blueprint can become a structure.
Jon: I feel a bit let down by the Eagles. Just a bit. But I'm also happy that they broke up the monotony for a bit.

In looking forward to Week 13 (Thursday!) I have to say that the Packers need to put crazy pressure on Romo, and perhaps a good ol fashioned double team on TO. This would force them to run the ball, but I don't know offhand if that would be positive or a negative (stat guy, help me on this one pls). Looking forward with nervous anticipation- a loss this week would place us at 10-2, which is still really good. It would only solidify our place as #2 behind the Cowboys, which is where most put us anyway. A win would put us at 11-1, and at #1 in front of Dallas- and 3-4 games above TB, Seattle, NYG, all of the Wild Card teams. A win would make us all happy- too bad this is one of the Biggest of the year, and none of us can watch it without the ungodly NFL Network. I'll be pubbing it myself. |

| I don't know. The Packers lost to the Bears by essentially conceding at least a 25 yard return on every kick and punt. I think you punt to him and just don't psych yourself out. Every other punt returner in the league is practically tackled as they catch the ball, and end up fair catching like half of the punts, somehow Devin Hester gets 15 yards to work with on almost every punt sent his way. There's more going on then Hester being awesome. Either the Bears blocking is outstanding, or teams scheme too much and try to get too cute. I think teams "stay back" to "play it safe" against good punt returners, but ultimately "staying back" is the problem. | ||

The Bears often send a wedge back right before the snap to block for Hester. They did that on the last punt of the game against Denver. Because this Packer game is getting almost no hype I don't feel guilty saying this. While this is just another regular season game and a loss really won't "hurt" them that much, I am going to go out and say that this is probably the most important regular season game for the franchise in close to 10 years. Only once since 1997 have the Packers been contending for home field advantage this late in the season. Also, to go into Dallas and win, a place where Favre has never won, would be such a boost for the youngest team in the NFL, I imagine that they would feel unstoppable after such a feat. I know players, coaches and teams always say things like "we're taking every game one at a time," and they probably mean it most of the time. But I'd be hard pressed to believe that most of the players on the Packers team aren't a little more pumped for this game than they have been all season. |

Some team is going to silent audible into a fake punt if the Bears keep that up and it will be the easiest fake punt in the history of the NFL. Six down defensive lineman to cover the whole team? Please. |

| Dolphins for a first win, their best chance to not go 0-16 this season, if that's not enough motivation (which should be) then theres always "the Jets eat NON-DOLPHIN FREINDLY tuna" tease. eek eek. | ||

| That was a bad pass interference call. The receiver just slowed down so the DB would run into him. He made no attempt to even catch the ball that was 5 yards further down the field. | ||

I called this place called Champps at around noon today, put my name on "the list" even though they don't do reservations. Get there, our friend said "Oh no, 25 groups on the list!" So I walk up, and get sat immediately. Good game Carlos. Last play of the 3rd the girls say "oh no its almost ten! we have to go NOW!" I get to watch the rest of the game on nfl.com's play by play text on the laptop. I lose. |

Some random thoughts: We played awful and still only lost by 10. When we play again in January, with Woodson and KGB and a thinking Favre, we have a great shot. BTW, what the hell was wrong with Harris???? Our defense let them throw all night long. I hope Favre is ok. A-Rod made some silly mistakes, but did ok for himself. (still don't like him) I'm just not impressed with the Cowboys, they should've beaten us by 30 points or something. The refs were not the best. One ref called the int that Harris had, the other called that forward progress had been stopped, etc etc. A lot of things were just very inconsistent with the refs. Oh and why didn't we stick with what we've been doing all year? Not cool. When Rodgers came in, we went back to it and it started working. |

That T.O. call was one of the worst calls I've seen in a long time. You could make up a lot of things in that position, but saying his forward progress was stopped is about the last thing you'd think the ref would try to pull. What followed is one of my big pet peeves with coaches: The "protest" challenge over something meaningless because you can't challenge what you really want to. Every team needs to have a person in charge of taking the flag away from the head coach when he gets in an intractable argument with the refs. There was a critical first down the Packers missed late by the length of an eyelash that they appeared to make during "live action" (which granted, could have been someone's elbow or something) that they couldn't challenge because they challenged if a 12 yard catch like 2 plays into the game was really a catch. When it was all said and done this game should have been like 50-7, yet the Packers inexplicably hung around. You could argue that getting some key players healthy would make a difference, but you could also point out that A-Rod looked legendary compared to the inexplicable turd sandwich QB4 served up before his untimely exit. Plus the Cowboys didn't move up and down the field because they took advantage of Woodson's replacement. Al Harris looked just as lost as anyone out there. The Cowboys seemed to be 10 times the team tonight, but the final score being what is was it's hard to say would would happen in the playoffs. |

PACKERS / COWBOYS Game tomorrow.
Packers 27 @ Cowboys 37
Matt: I don't really care.Jeremy: It's kind of surprising to me how little play this game is getting. You would think a game like this would have been the talk of the last few weeks. In all seriousness I see the cable companies' point that they should be able to offer the NFL Network only to people who want it. However, at the same time they need to stop talking like the only two choices are a) if someone wants the NFL network they can buy the $10 a month sports package or b) everyone gets it and everyone's bill goes up $10. They could just add it, I'm sure their profit margin is ridiculous to begin with.
Sarah: It all comes down to this. Don't you hate over analyzing useless trivia? Favre is 0-something at Dallas, therefore he can't win on Thursday. But, he's gotten such a better record at domes since 2002. Something's gotta give. Or maybe it's just any given Sunday (Thursday) and it's just that team's day. I'm glad I get to see the game, that's favre sure.
Jon: Instead of giving my take on how they matchup, I'll talk about the whole NFL network thing. Does it suck? yeah. Boo hoo. You know who has to watch their favorite team's games (yes, multiples games) in sports bars? Me. And Matt. And often Jeremy. Vikings and Twins games. You know who else? Countless other people who can't get their chosen games on their local tv. Again, yeah it sucks, but it's not like the game is completely inaccessible. Suck it up and spend a few hours somewhere outside of your house.
