"Roe v Wade For Men" effectively ended. Effects felt nowhere.

I remember this when it came out. The guy kind of had a point, but...I don't know. It doesn't really affect me, but a ruling for this could have some pretty large effects on society.

I can't believe the suit made it all the way to a federal appeals court

A Wendy sighting?!

I mean on one hand the woman did assure him she wouldn't get pregnant, on the other hand he could have taken matters into his own hands. Or just not had sex with her.

We finally got a new producer after nealry 6 months, so two days a week, I only have half the work to do. So Hello World! (or Nutcan World)

You're right - if he was that concerned about something like this happening, there are a few things he could have done, not that difficult, to be 100% sure.

Also, I was interested in court's ruling - I didn't know there was precedent for an argument like this before and that the welfare of the child outweighs the intent of the conception and birth. So I'll ask again, how in the hell did this make it so far in the legal system?

That concept can work both ways you know.

Whether intentional or not, 5 nuts for the double entendre.

He said entendre. Can we get turkeys this month? Five turkeys for using double entendre. It beats the majority of posts I read all day using such common phrases as "screw those biatches" and "eat me".

And that's, I think, why he got as far as he did. Because women can do something to prevent pregnancy but also to terminate the pregnancy, where men only have the preventative option.

If abortion is legal AND the father has no say about whether the mother should have an abortion, then he should have the right to not pay. There are lots of things that are legal that aren't in society's best interest, like abortion.

Ok, well our internet connection was out but I see I've been beaten to the punch a couple times. I don't want to start Nutcan.com abortion thread v5.0 here.

Many of the issues that could be raised against the man's right to "choose" could be said about the woman's. She can take precautions and just not have sex as well.

On the surface this guys lawsuit sounds absurd, but in reality if you believe the it's the womans choice to have an abortion and no matter how bad the guy wants to keep it she could have an abortion right in front of him taunting him all the while, it stands to reason the opposite (woman wants it, man wants nothing to do with it) shouldn't be "laughable." It's just that NOW is a giant organization and the National Center of Man is a bunch of whiners complete with 1997 style conspiracy type website.

I just pictured this:
A woman walking out of the abortion clinic with a Planned Parenthood Button on her chest and a fetus in a jar, laughing, while a mopey-looking Seth Rogen sort of guy sits cross-legged in the parking lot, looking mopey.
I claim royalties from Judd Apatow when he makes this as Knocked Up 2: A Woman's Right to Choose.

I just came across an column about this case, so I thought I would link to it.

Daddy Nobucks: When Involuntary Fathers Are Forced to Foot The Bill

Sage advice for men towards the end of the article:

"For all you boys out there, until that day there is actual male choice, don't neglect the birth control...no matter what she tells you. Unless you're a sterling judge of character, on the level of secret service agents and clinical psychologists, and unless you're absolutely sure you've got an ethical and/or infertile girlfriend, or you personally watch her get Depo Provera injections...prudent thinking is never believing her when she says she can't get knocked up, always bringing your own condom, and retaining custody over it at all times...lest it find its way to the business end of a pin.

Sound cynical? That's what a lot of guys think — before they write to me about what they can say to persuade some girl to get an abortion, or whether there's anything they can do to get out of paying child support…short of dying.
