ESPN Audience Starves For Reported Fact

Fellow Ombudsman Le Anne Schreiber of ESPN has a good article on how opinions are pushing out facts in ESPN's coverage.

That was indeed long. I agree with her, I don't, however, lay it at the feet of ESPN. That's just the way our society is. If you aren't going to sensationalize something you aren't going to get airtime to talk at all.

Okay, I was forced to finally look up Ombudsman, and read the seven zillion definitions that ensued. So my question is, Matt, are you the Ombudsman of nutcan, or an appointed Ombudsman somewhere else?

"Word" on the second article. The gap between the two fan bases isn't nearly as large as perceived.

I am the self-appointed Ombudsman of Nutcan.com.

I believe the first (and pretty much only) time I officially used my power was in this thread concerning the 2004 NFL playoffs (Viking/Packer game). The comment is about 2/3 of the way down (01/10/2005 @ 10:59:30 AM specifically).

Just exactly what is your role? And how do your powers work. I'm actually being serious for once. I want to appoint myself an Ombudsman of something.

Theoretically, I guess I would take complaints from the "public" and seek to resolve any disputes.

In most cases, the "public" basically includes Matt, and maybe Jon on certain occasions.

The only forum with a true complaint department. Sweet.
