Man sues A's Over Mother's Day Promo

A lawyer has sued the Oakland A's because on Mothers day of 2004 (incidentally, against the Twins) they offered free floppy hats to the first 7,500 women at the game.

He won, but I don't think that's surprising. A judge's hands are probably pretty tied in this regard. Legally you're almost assuredly not allowed to single out any specific group, I guess everyone is just hoping no one is soulless enough to be a dick about it. I just don't get why so much. Why $100 worth of stuff, including $50 in cash? One would think, at most, the judge would say that the hat, or what the team paid per hat, has to be offered.
