rediculous. EDIT- I would have gone in there and said something like "List....Listen to... Listen..... Listen to me. Be quiet. Be... stop... stop. STOP TALKING. Let's be grown ups and listen to eachother talk." Who am I kidding, I'd send the storm troopers in and let them have a heyday. |

Ugh, I'm not sure it's possible for these people to be bigger douches. First off, I think these pampered assclowns need to see what brutality really is, I'm not sure that that is a word they should just be throwing around in a college in america. Even Rodney King probably wasn't beaten as bad as a normal everyday "arrest" is in some countries. Secondly, is there a douchier thing to be protesting for that the Palestinians**? Don't get me wrong, it's not that it's all bad to point out, "hey, they aren't ALWAYS the bad guys," but I guarantee you that 80% of the people involved understand like 2% of the issue and are there out of some "Yeah man, F the government, aren't I edgy, screw corporations!, look at my awesome Che Guevara t-shirt" motive. The camera man was about 3 "we're using consensus's" from me personally finding out where he lives and giving him something to cry about. As douchy as they are the whole time, I think it really plateaus when they are going through the backpacks to note all the stuff that might be confiscated. Really? REALLY?!? How important do you think you are? Do you really think they give a rats ass about you? Do you really think they give a rats ass what the protest is about? They want the god damn caf back, you fucking jackass. **Apparently they were just protesting a little of everything. http://www.campusprogress.org/opinions/3648/how-not-to-protest |

LMAO when he's asking the cops to use an area for the discussion, then they say no, and he says, "pretend you can't us hear then" |

This is really more sad than anything. It's almost not worth commenting on, but there's so much to say about it. The part that stuck out to me, hands down, was how the camera guy/narrator couldn't have had less support from his supposed partners. Note to protesters: if you're ever interested in any actual change, dialogue or any sort of meaningful progress, just don't bother inviting the guy who does nothing but shout, "f---ing rats" "f---ing liars" at everyone you're engaging in "peaceful dialogue." Then again, maybe the "if" part of that statement is a hurdle to focus on. Also, when your only method of decision making is huddling everyone together to take a vote, why don't you show a little urgency and a little group cohesion. They were barely even standing together, much less communicating with each other. Shaq and Kobe had better team chemistry. Did these people even know each other? Or like each other? Or even have a common goal? Honestly, if I told you that the camera guy was the only one who was serious about this and that everyone else there was actually trying to sabotage his efforts from the inside, that would make more sense than believing these people were actually working together right? I don't know how the whole circus played out, but I imagine the camera guy being cuffed and led to a squad car, all while still trying, unsuccessfully, to get everyone to form a circle and vote on whether to identify themselves. |

Yeah, it's as if everyone but him was able to read the handwriting on the wall. The sad thing is, these were the people who decided to stick it out. How non-committed must the other people have been? It is possible that most of the people left did believe in the goal(s) of the protest, but realized toward the end how stupid what they were doing was, especially with Capt. "Corporate Water" manning the helm. Probably not. http://takebacknyu.com/2009/02/19/nyu-occupied/ Jon Wrote - Today @ 02:10:41 AM I don't know how the whole circus played out, but I imagine the camera guy being cuffed and led to a squad car, all while still trying, unsuccessfully, to get everyone to form a circle and vote on whether to identify themselves. Stop! Stop! Brutality! Stop! We're using consensus! You have to allow us to use consensus and decide whether or not we'll allow you to forcibly remove us! This is a true democracy! You corporate whores! Where are you going with our 27 Mac books/iPods? We're using consensus!!!" |
