I really just have one thing to say, but aside from my comment, this space can now serve as a discussion area for any thoughts on the weekend of games.

Michigan vs. Notre Dame is this Saturday and I'm intrigued.
When I was younger, I used to cheer for both of these teams because their games were on and I liked them for some reason. I still cheer for Notre Dame in a casual sense and I don't dislike Michigan unless they are playing someone else I want to win. Wisconsin, for instance.
You've probably heard they are both 0 and 2. What I find extra interesting about it is that Michigan was still probably favored to win, at least in my mind, but then they announced that Henne is out for the game. What do you make of a preseason top five pick who lost their first two games and now is starting a new qb? And who knows what Notre Dame is. I can hardly comprehend them having something like a 3-win year, but it's probably not a stretch.

Back to the qb's though. The thing I've found most interesting is that both of these historic programs will start freshman quarterbacks, but they just happen to be last year's number one and number two ranked high school qb's.

If I'm awake and remember it's on, I'm probably going to watch!

I've never liked Michigan or Notre Dame because they were so special that they got to be on TV all the time. But in non-conference games I'll always back the Big Ten team. Even though Michigan is already sticking it to their conference rivals by losing a lot.

I too never liked Michigan or Notre Dame for basically the same reasons as Alex. I basically agree completely with Alex's comment. My dislike for Notre Dame was enforced when I had a friend from High School go there for college. She knew absolutely NOTHING about football, but suddenly she claimed she was a bigger football fan (or at least equal) than me because she went to the games and her team was good and all that. However, after living down in the southern part of the country and having to deal with the "SEC football is the ONLY football" type of attitude, I kinda would like to see the Midwest schools do better.

I think it's dumb that the Badger game isn't on a real TV channel but instead on that Big Ten channel that no-one has. That's lame. If you live in Wisconsin you should be able to watch the Badgers. Much like how if you live in WI you should be able to watch the Packers. (which we won't be able to do when they play the Cowboys)

I think it's dumb that the game is tied at halftime. Wasn't the defense supposed to be good this year?

No. 11 UCLA got SHALACKED by Utah 44-6. Auburn lost again at home. Notre Dame is 0-3 and hasn't scored an offensive touchdown yet this season. UCF almost beat Texas as Central Florida played their first game in their new stadium.

The Badgers defense looked weak in the first half, but play some intense, shutdown defense in the 2nd half to turn a tie at halftime into a route that wasn't as close as the score suggested. P.J. Hill scored 5 touchdowns.

I'm watching the USC-Nebraska game. In spite of the fact that it's only 21-10 right now, it seems like USC is gaining about 10 yards every time they rush the ball. I'm also watching the Arkansas-Alabama game on espn360.com, and Arkansas is now up 38-34 with 30 seconds left after falling behind 21-0 in the first qtr.

I guess it's been a busy day in College football.

And Alabama just scored a touchdown with 8 seconds left to go up 41-38. What a game. They just panned to the Arkansas cheerleaders on the sidelines and boy did they look sad. I have to say this was one of the best games I've watched so far this year. This means that Arkansas (no. 16) and UCLA (no. 11) both lost to unranked teams and could be out of the top 25 after this week.

now it's 42-10 USC. If anyone was questioning whether or not USC deserves to be No. 1 over LSU, I think USC is showing that they do indeed deserve it.

I can't remember this happening, but the Badgers have dropped in the rankings each of the last two weeks despite the fact that they've won all their games! I can't say that I'm going to defend the Badgers because they really haven't been playing that well, but it just seemed odd.

Also, the USF Bulls are ranked 23rd and 24th in the polls, making it into the top 25 for the first time in their 11 year history.

The USF Bulls just beat the no. 5 ranked West Virginia 21-13. Unfortunately I wasn't at the game, but it was a good one nonetheless. The way things are going, USF could end up being ranked higher than the Badgers if the Badgers don't start trouncing some teams.

That was a close game for the Badgers. With a lot of the top ten teams losing, it'll be interesting to see where WI ranks

5 top ten teams lost this week. Despite Wisconsin just eaking by each week, I think they could possibly be up to as high as number 5.

I haven't done this before, but with so many teams in the top 10 losing, I thought I'd give it a shot. Here's my top 10:

1) LSU (2)
2)USC (1)
3)California (6)
4)Ohio State (8)
5)Wisconsin (9)
6)Boston College (12)
7) Kentucky (14)
8)Georgia (15)
9) Oregon (11)
10) USF (18)

Oklahoma, West Virginia, Texas, Florida, and Rutgers all lost and all drop out of the top 10. Oregon lost to number 6 Califorina, but because of the other teams losing, the Ducks still move up in the rankings. USF gets it's first ever top 10 bid, after being in the polls for only the 4th week in school history. Wisconsin moves up simply because they didn't lose. Wisconsin hasn't look that mighty yet, but they are still unbeaten. LSU pounded Tulane and USC barely beat Washington, so I flip-flopped LSU and USC.

The University of South Florida Bulls are ranked No. 2 in the BCS. Why I care (in case anyone hasn't figured this out yet.). My wife goes to school there. Their program is only 11 years old. They are a Florida college football team that you don't have to hate (Florida, Florida St., Miami). I'm not much of a bandwagon jumper (and this isn't really bandwagon jumping because I do have a legitimate reason to root for them), but this is kind of an exciting time in Tampa. And, it's probably the only time I will ever root for a Tampa/Florida football team (I take that back, I have nothing against the Jaguars or Dolphins).
