Is anyone going to the Danny Gokey festivities in Milwaukee today? My wife happens to be in Wisconsin, so she is going. I guess he is singing the National Anthem and throwing out the first pitch at the Brewers game tonight. Exciting stuff!

I looked to see if we had had any other American Idol blogs, and realized much to my chagrin that we had, and that it was quite lengthy. I must've blocked it from my memory. I can't believe this show is still a hit, but maybe if I cared to watch it, I'd changed my mind. Then again... maybe not.

A) when you don't have cable you'll watch whatever is on TV; and B) I enjoy it. It's the best of any of the "talent" reality shows (meaning shows like dancing with the starts, america's got talent, etc). And While I never listen to pop radio anyway so I don't ever listen to them once their off the show, once you get down to the final 6 or 7 they really are good, in my opinion.

I guess it's as good a thing as any to bet on. In prison, a man will do 'most anything to keep his mind occupied.

I was quoting Shawshank Redemption. And it seemed to loosely fit the situation.

I've been watching and multiple times have thought about starting a thread for this season.

I'm disappointed that Allison got sent home.

I would have guessed Kris would have been sent home last week. I really think it will come down to Adam or Danny.

Just for the record, I knew that, but it still seemed odd and not at all the same situation.

I'm a bit of a U2 fan so maybe I'm missing something. Is the song "Dance Little Sister" a comparable song assignment to U2's "One"? When the finals are on the line? Scott, help me out.

I didn't get home in time to see the Danny's first song. But yes, I thought that whole thing was severly slanted in Adam's favor. I think the judges want Adam to win. Although I thought Danny kicked some but with his second performance. I predict a Danny-Adam final.

Adam does too much high pitch screaming. It's not cool when it's half of the song.

Yeah, Adam is definitely talented, but he seems rather self-indulgent. He rubs me the wrong way.

That's probably my main complaint against Adam's performances. I actually wrote a pretty long breakdown of my thoughts on the final three but I ended up not posting it. To get a bit philosophical, I actually feel weird about criticizing the contestants very much, especially online. I know that may sound really strange because to a certain extent, that's sort of the idea of the show. And it's what we consider our "right" in regard to anyone who dares to go into the public forum. But I feel like when we (as a society, or as humans, take your pick) are given a proverbial inch to critique, we take a mile. And then disseminate that mile across the internet so it can grow exponentially.

But I will agree that the high pitch screaming is a detraction, especially due to the overuse of it. Which is kind of odd since his best performances have been when he didn't use it. (Tracks of my tears, e.g.) But to be honest, I think as far as performances go this season, his "bests" have been among the few performances that have really stood out as excellent this year.

That said, even though he's been quite good at times, received praise almost every week, and is pretty popular, I don't think Adam will win.

I won't be shocked if he does, but I think it's a pretty classic case of polarization. He had enough of a plurality to stay in the competition among all the others, but what it comes down to in the finals is a referendum on his style. And there are Adam fans and there are non-Adam fans. I think the non-Adam fans add up to more than the fans do. I haven't done a lot of research, even on an informal level, but that's what I'd guess. I don't think there's zero middle ground. In fact, to an extent, I'd consider myself someone who likes and dislikes what he does, but if I voted, I would vote for Kris. And I think the overwhelming majority of Danny's fans who decide to vote, will vote for Kris.

Then again, those of us on here and the people we know and discuss the show with are probably not representative of the voting demographic at-large, so we'll have to wait and see. Plus, they usually get to re-perform their best song on the final tuesday, so if Adam chooses tracks of my tears or the song from that Halo commercial, he could pull in some votes that he wouldn't get if he screamed all night.

I'll end this post by quoting part of my unposted post that I did save for future use:

"Kris, I realized, is actually the guy from the last three that I would probably most enjoy going to see live. Even though the whole acoustic, 20-something, good looking, good voice thing kind of bugs me sometimes (I feel like every coffee shop and campus mall in the first part of this decade had one of these guys) I actually like his sound and can get into what he does. He's grown on me."
