Did anyone happen to see a clip of Prince Fielder absolutely leveling Giants catcher Todd Greene yesterday? That was crazy. Fielder, all 6'0" 260 pounds of him, demolished Greene on a play at the plate, knocking him out of the game. The trainer had to use smelling salts to help Greene up. I'm pretty sure he is ok, but it was kind of an exclamation point and a message as to how the Brewers are going to do this year. DON'T GET IN OUR WAY, PRINCE AND THE GANG ARE COMING AT YOU!!!

(replays showed that Greene may have held on to the ball, but it's debatable I guess)

Brewers have won 4 in a row going into their series with the Twins. The border battle is on.

And the Brewers get to go against two rookies, one of whose name is Boof. I'll be at the game tonight. Liriano is on a 60-70 pitch limit. My prediction is Liriano strikes out 7 in 5 innings, and then you can pick a middle reliever out of a hat to give up 5 runs in the 7th.

2 Rookies started and they were still one horrid bullpen performance from a sweep. It was only 2 games but that AJ trade sure looks like quite the heist.

The Brewers own the Phillies. They are 5-0 against them so far this year.

Roger Clemens is making his first start of the season tonight in Class A as a Lexington Legend. He's playing for a team called the Legends. How cool is that. Anyway, one youngster for the other team just achieved his highest highlight of his career, hitting a homerun off of Roger Clemens in the first inning. He could go on to win 7 batting titles and 4 home run titles, and during his hall of fame induction press conference, a reporter would ask him "what would you say is the highlight of your career? Was it the 5 straight World Series victories that you were a part of, or the fact that you now own the homerun title, the all-time batting title, or that you have made more money than any other pro athlete has ever made?" And the player would say, "Well, when I was 19 years old I hit a home run off of Roger Clemens."

Hey Jon, can I buy your Damian Miller bobblehead from you. It's probably the coolest bobblehead I've seen so far.

I never heard he was on the trading block but apparently Carlos Lee is expected to be traded soon. When I clicked on the article it said expect him to be a Twin, Dodger, or Astro. Is that a realistic happening? I can't see the Twins making a trade for a high profile player.

I'm not sure how I feel about it either. He would be a great addition if he was on the team a few years, but I don't want to be the ones to give away a potential Nathan/Liriano combo for half a season of Lee (especally since I still partially expect the Twins to fall apart at some point anyway)

I think we have a better chance of getting Soriano, but it seems like the Twins and Soriano have been linked in trade rumors for about 20 years.

I don't know where you heard that he's expected to be traded soon. It's certainly a possibility, but I think from your perspective you should be hoping he isn't traded to the Twins cause the Brewers certainly aren't going to be giving him away for free. And if the Brewers can't resign him (which is really the only conceivable reason to trade him) I doubt the Twins can. I'd rather the Brewers dump Jenkins if they need to free up some money, he must be in the top 5 payroll on the team.

Jenkins is 3rd in team payroll:

Here's the top 10.

1. Ben Sheets 9,625,000

2. Carlos Lee 8,500,000

3. Geoff Jenkins 7,833,333

4. Tomo Ohka 4,530,000

5. Damian Miller 3,250,000

6. Doug Davis 3,200,000

7. Brady Clark 3,100,000

8. Tony Graffanino 2,050,000

9. Dan Kolb 2,000,000

10. Rickie Weeks 1,220,000

Here's what you do. You drop clark to make room for Corey Hart and Tony Gwinn Jr. Brady Clark is like 33 years old and he is just now becoming adequate.

I hope Carlos is not traded. If the future is now, they need to sign him and expect to either bounce back this season, or at worst make a run next season. This is not the same team that lost 106 games in 2001 or that had a league all-time worst 2nd half 2 years ago. This is a team built to be a winner, and Carlos needs to be part of that equation. The Brewers can't let a season tainted by significant injuries to three fifths of their starting rotation slow them down for more than the current year. There is still plenty of time left THIS SEASON to RE-turn things around.

I would say the disabled list is going to be a formidable opponent come playoff time. I mean, who really wants to face Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, AND Ben Sheets in a 5 game series.

I was eating when I saw this and I lost my appetite a bit. I was really hoping they would be able to keep him, but it sounds like he wasn't interested in staying.

That said, they got 3 major league players for 1.

Half of the closers in the majors have tanked this year anyway. If they can go committee style and give the ball to the hot guy maybe it will help.

I think the Brewers as an organization top to bottom is making it very clear that this season is absolutely NOT over. All 4 of the NEW Brewers contributed to last nights win. The Carlos Lee trade might have seemed like the typical "let's pack it in" Brewers of old, but I still think the Brewers have a chance to catch the Reds for the Wild Card. This is not the same Brewers team that has sustained 14 years of garbage.

He's getting market value. If he was willing to sign a 5 year deal, I bet the Brewers would give him one at a higher salary this year. But that's not Boras's MO. So it is what it is.
