The Timberwolves inability to score in the 4th quarter of any game is hurting them a little bit.
Garnett just wasn't on in the 2nd half of game 3. I especially thought when the cocky Lakers crowd started chanting "MVP" when Kobe stepped up to the line, that Garnett would have got a little fire in his belly and just took the game into his own hands. He should have proved once again why he is the MVP of the league like he did against Sacramento in game 7. He needed to get the ball and drive to the hoop. Wally Szczerbiak was single handedly keeping the Wolves in the game. The injury to Cassell is really hurting the Wolves not only on the offensive end with his explosiveness, but on the defensive end where he is being slowed down and is not able to keep up with the defenders while weaving in and out of screens. With Cassell being hurt the Wolves need other guys to pick up the slack and Wally did that this game. He cut the Lakers lead to 2 by scoring 17 of the Wolves last 18 points at one point. When you get open shots you have to knock that down. We missed a couple of key shots like one 3 pointer that Sprewell had that could have cut the lead to 5. It would have also been a big momentum boost. When you get open shots when the game is close you need to knock them down and that just didn't happen for the Wolves this game. The Wolves really need to pick up the load defensively, but when all the Lakers do is throw the ball down low to Shaq for him to elbow a couple guys in the face and send them flying into the 5th row of the stands, well then what can you really do. They need to attack Shaq more on the offensive end. Give the ball to Johnson and Olowokandi down low and let them take it to Shaq just like he has been doing to them and get him in foul trouble. Next game expect Garnett to come out of the gates fast and never look back. When the pressure is on he knows what he has to do and he will not let them fall behind 3-1 in the series. Expect these 2 teams to be heading back to Minnesota for game 5 Saturday tied 2 games a piece.
