Not everything is a sign that Americans are soft on terror.

People are angy that Publix had a gall to mention the Islamic New Year on their calendar, but didn't mention something that pretty much no other calendar mentions either.

"Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day wasn't included because it's not a holiday." Memorial Day and Veterans Day are included.

People do this all the time. The post office made a stamp for an Islamic holiday and people flipped. "How dare they!" "I'm not going to mail my Christmas cards with islamic stamps!" (As if there's one kind of stamp we're all told we have to use.

The best one I saw was "They don't beleive in Jesus, but they get their own Christmas stamp"

I guess there's a snopes about it, so I'll let them expound on why this is idiotic.

They can pretend that this has a damn thing to do with Pearl Harbor, but please. Every day is probably declared some sort of special day at some point. This is just that "war on Christmas" "I want everyone to pretend everyone is exactly like me" mentality that's running rampant the last few years.

The worst part is that this is more-or-less people calling on a boycott of Publix because they had a black person on the cover of the calender, but no one calls them on it. It's pretty much just blatant racism, except it's mostly religion based, so we all have to pretend it's actually some sort of difference of opinion.

a guy I work with bought a world of warcraft calendar, and I happened to check if it said anything for Dec 7, and it said "Pearl Harbor day". so I'm 1 for 1 on calendars with it noted.

Just to clarify, since this could come off as religion-harsh, all I mean was that we all sort of turn a blind eye to the issue as if it's Red Sox fans hating on Yankee fans, where it's just about teams with no real consequences "Oh, well of course they aren't going to want Babe Ruth's birthday on the calendar! har har We'll fix that next year." when in reality in many cases it's just flat out racism.
