First blog entry in a while for me. It took me a few moments to even remember how to do it.

Watching SportsCenter on Monday (The Sunday night version) I was struck by how good Tiger Woods is. I mean, I'm not a Tiger guy. I generally cheer for everyone but him. But to win a major by five strokes? I mean, I know it happens sometimes, actually fairly often for him, but I'm amazed that anyone ever wins majors by anything more than one or two strokes. Montgomerie was second place, five back of tiger at -9. To put that lead in perspective, by my count there were 29 guys who were within five shots of Montgomerie. In other words Tiger was out in front by a considerable margin. Just felt like mentioning that.

Also, the new Switchfoot song "Stars" was the song for the weekly highlight montage on sportscenter. As I told Scott, in my opinion, the song is a winner.

I don't care what anyone says, Tiger is still at the top of his game. He has 10 major wins, and he still isn't 30 yet. He is on a much faster pace than Jack was, and this is the 3rd major he's one by 5 or more strokes. He is still the best golfer in the world.

Tiger Woods is the best golfer ever. I always cheer for him because it's just so amazing to watch him dominate everyone else. He just has that thing about him when he's on top of his game. He just looks at everyone else and says give me your best shot (pun very intended) and then goes out and 1up's them. Kind of the same thing as Jordan. I'm really not a fan of either of them per se, but to watch someone who's soooo good at what they do is just awe inspiring.

3 tournaments after coming back from his knee rehab he pulls out the biggest one day comeback of his career. The myth and legend that is Tiger Woods is growing.

I always enjoy people's love for Tiger. Not that you shouldn't love him necessarily, but he's basically the Yankees/Patriots/Lakers of golf.

Sort of but not really. I dislike the Yankees because they just try to out bankroll everyone (or used to until other teams with money decided to overpay 90% of their rosters as well). For some reason I've always kind of liked the Colts a little so that plus Belichick is kind of an ass sometimes is why I don't like the Pats. And I've never really hated the Lakers although more often than not I tend to root against them.

Well, the Lakers time has sort of passed now, I just mean that usually people tend to tire of the "Goliath" of the sport pretty quickly.

That 's true, but Tiger is human and he doesn't always win. I don't even think he is the number one ranked player right now. But if he is near the top of the leaderboard it always makes the golf tournament more interesting because you never know what will happen.

He was still #1 before the last tournament and I'd guess that his win will probably keep him there although Phil is pretty close. Found the updated ones, Phil was only .2 back before last week, now Tiger has 10.095 and Phil has 8.514.

I think people don't tire of him (as much at least) because he is just an individual as opposed to a team and in golf you're as much battling the course and the elements and yourself as much as the other players.

Well, tiger doesn't buy all the other golf clubs so that other players cannot afford them. I don't think he is any of these things.

Plus, Tiger Woods couldn't be a nicer, classier guy. He is always good with the media, always has a smile on his face (except when he just missed a putt or something). He's an overall good guy and it's hard not to like him. Plus, in golf, you don't really ever root against players; not the real golf fans anyway.

I wouldn't say that Tiger is the any of those. I think that first you can't compare golf to professional team sports, and secondly you can't compare golf to professional TEAM sports.
