On Jan, 4th the Baseball Hall of Fame will announce the results of this years Hall of Fame election. Like last year, I have decided to post who I would vote for if I had a ballot.

First, a list of the players who are on the ballot (For more info on the players eligible and election rules go to the Baseball HOF website):

New players on the ballot: Jim Abbott, Wade Boggs, Tom Candiotti, Chili Davis, Mark Langston, Jack McDowell, Willie McGee, Jeff Montgomery, Otis Nixon, Tony Phillips, Terry Steinbach, Darryl Strawberry

Holdovers: Bert Blyleven, Dave Concepcion, Andre Dawson, Steve Garvey, Rich "Goose" Gossage, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Jim Rice, Ryne Sandberg, Lee Smith, Bruce Sutter, Alan Trammell

A voter may vote for up to 10 players and, as a "big hall" guy, I voted for the maximum 10. Players need to be on 75% of the ballots to be elected.

My Ballot:
Boggs
Blyleven
Dawson
Garvey
Gossage
Morris
Rice
Sandberg
Sutter
Trammell

Predictions: Boggs and Sandberg will make it, Gossage will be close and could go either way. Blyleven and Trammell will gain some ground, but still won't receive nearly the amount of support that they deserve (Blyleven especially).

Boggs and Blyleven would be my first 2 choices too. Blyleven gets no love. He's 7 wins shy of 300 and something like 4th or 5th alltime in strikeouts. I think there's too much emphasis put on "benchmark numbers". Sure wins are important, but if Blyleven had those extra wins he would be a no brainer. in my opinion. Can I vote for Yount again?

Only Boggs and Sandberg made it. It's hard for me to have much of an opinion on guys I've never or hardly ever seen play, which makes me wonder what all the voters base their votes on. Those 2 were at the top of my list, and after that I don't know. No opinion.

Darryl Strawberry was once one of my favorite players. Then he did drugs and went to the Dodgers. His son is a decent baller for Maryland.
